The lesson is, you really need to carefully screen a breeder well before making a such a huge commitment.
My family & I have just recently got our puppy and we couldn't be more happy and in love with him! Their facility was very clean! Diane took the extra time to sit with me (I had TONS of questions) and explain everything and answer all of my questions and concerns. I would highly recommend them.
I would discourage anyone from buying a pet from the happy woofer. Unless you want to risk having an unhealthy pet? If you read the fine print (which they never sent me) they protect themselves very well. It wasn't until I fished through their website when I found their disclosure statement that exempts them from just about every possible disease. I don't get fooled very often, but Diane really sucked me into her "I love animals" sales pitch.
We got our Chonzer (half Bichon Frise and half miniature schnauzer) a few years ago and it was the best decision we ever made! Our dog is the most loving addition to our family we could have hoped for. Our experience with the Happy Woofer was nothing but positive. It was a peaceful, serene, out-of-the-way farm whose owners are breeding dogs. The people calling this place a "puppy mill" must be the same type who don't eat hamburgers because it's cruel to animals. Not everyone can find the pet they want from a shelter. Give it a rest. I highly recommend this place if they have a breed of dog your are interested in.
My experience ended after a three week absence of no email replies; so I sent Diane one last email to refund my deposit that I had on a puppy. And thankfully she did refund the full deposit of $200 because she was well aware that I would have eventually disputed it with PayPal.
I've had Sam, my papillon, for 6 months now. He has the best temperament, and character I have ever had in a dog. He is so friendly, and he constantly wants to meet everyone. He is literally the smartest dog I've ever owned. I did not have one single issue with his health concerning his lifestyle before he came to me. The staff was curtious, and very understanding. I will from now on use The Happy Woofer whenever I decide to add on to the family, again. I couldn't be happier with my experience, and I would recommend everyone to them.
This place is not a PUPPY MILL!! For those of you saying that it is, shame on you. Honestly do yourselves a favor and look up the definition of a puppy mill. Research it if you have too. I don't own any dogs from this place. Never bought one. However when I do decide to get a puppy this will be the place for me. I've talked to numerous people who have bought dogs from them and have had nothing negative to say. Gets recommend them too. Just cause your against breeders, if you don't have ask the facts then shut up. I'm so sick and tired of honest breeders getting picked on. This facility maintains a lot of dogs. They keep it clean, they keep it maintained and most of all they keep ALL animals loved and cared for. Ugh you people make me sick!!
I appreciate people who work hard and try to earn a honest living, but the happy woofer could care less about the health of the animals they breed, or the families that may end up with an unhealthy pet. I don't believe Diane is a legitimate breeder. The happy woofer is nothing more than a 25 acre puppy mill that does not specialize in any one particular breed.
